"I’m from a small town near Lake Erie and transitioning to the city was a brand new experience for me. Our small student body brings a lot of unity to Point Park students, making it truly feel like a home away from home."
Why did you choose Point Park University?
I chose Point Park because I wanted to go somewhere new, but not too far from home. I’m from a small town near Lake Erie and transitioning to the city was a brand new experience for me. Our small student body brings a lot of unity to Point Park students, making it truly feel like a home away from home. As a student in the School of Communication, I have seen first-hand how my education is benefiting from Point Park’s amazing media programs.
What are your hobbies and interests?
I love taking pictures and shooting videos! One of my goals is to become a wedding videographer and I was recently given the opportunity to photograph my first wedding. Editing is something I’ve always been interested in, and I am also currently working on a blog and a vlog channel. I chose to major in multimedia because I can grow as a creator in so many media platforms, rather than just one.
Where is your favorite place to take photos in the city?
I actually prefer to take pictures outside of the city, but when I am Downtown, I love to photograph places where others cannot exactly pinpoint the location. I have a creative eye, so I like to wander around and see what I find rather than picking popular locations.
How are you involved on campus?
I am a member of the Campus Activities Board advertising and special events committees. CAB has given me the opportunity to gain experience that will help me in my career. I also recently joined the Pay it Forward club.
Where is the best spot to study on campus?
My favorite place to study on campus is the new addition in the library basement. The environment is very homey and relaxing. When I’m there I don’t feel closed in, but I also don’t feel like I have the distractions that I have in my room or elsewhere on campus.
What advice do you have for incoming students?
Keep an eye on the future. Don’t settle on a major before you have a good understanding of it, and be willing to do a lot of research into job opportunities. When you get to school, get involved on campus with things outside of academics. Clubs, student activities and internships are beneficial because you never know who you will meet or what opportunities will arise from them. Also, find your own hobby that you always have to come back to and connect with yourself.
